Description

The twelve "London Symphonies" represent the magnificent culmination of Haydn's symphonic work. Composed for the London impresario Johann Peter Salomon, Haydn conducted their premieres during his extended visits to London in 1791/92 and 1794/95.

In his C-major symphony, which debuted in May 1792, Haydn paid a special tribute to Salomon, who also served as the orchestra's leader. At the conclusion of the minuet, he included a brief solo in the upper octave, allowing Salomon to distinctly showcase his talent among the string players.

This study edition utilizes the musical text from the Haydn Complete Edition, ensuring the highest level of scholarly integrity. An informative preface and a concise Critical Report make this practical score an excellent resource for both current and prospective admirers of Haydn.
