Tchaikowsky: Children's Album (String Ensemble)

RM 126.00

Description

In a letter dated April 30, 1878, to Nadezhda F. von Meck, Tchaikovsky expressed his intention to create a collection of miniature pieces aimed at children, recognizing the scarcity of quality musical literature for young audiences. He envisioned a series of simple compositions, complete with engaging titles, similar to those crafted by Schumann. Peer Baierlein subsequently selected twelve of these accessible pieces and arranged them for a string ensemble comprising two violins, viola, cello, and double bass, assigning distinct roles to each instrument—melody, rhythm, and harmony. These educational pieces not only provide an enjoyable learning experience but also promote interaction, making them particularly suitable for teaching and student performances.
