In 1878, Tchaikovsky published a collection he subtitled "24 Easy Pieces (à la Schumann)." Echoing his predecessor Schumann, Tchaikovsky possessed an innate talent for composing music for young audiences without condescending to them, as demonstrated by these charming and characteristic miniatures.
