Description
Ireland's piano compositions represent a significant contribution to the British musical tradition, comparable to the influence of Fauré on the French tradition. The works of both composers are distinctly personal while simultaneously embodying the characteristics of their respective countries, thereby enhancing the European musical heritage.
The first four volumes of this collected edition are organized chronologically according to their composition dates. The Piano Sonata, composed in 1920, is presented as Volume 5. Additionally, a sixth volume was released in 2012 to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of John Ireland's passing, featuring a selection of previously uncollected original solo pieces and piano arrangements
