Description

The three piano sonatas K. 330–332 were likely composed in Vienna or Salzburg in the summer of 1783, significantly later than previously thought by Mozart scholars. The F-major sonata K. 332 was then published in Vienna the following year, 1784, alongside its "sister" sonatas K. 330 and 331. The first printed edition and the autograph manuscript exhibit substantial textual differences, prompting the Henle Urtext editor to adopt the richer dynamic markings from the autograph (presented in small print) as well as the more ornate slow movement from the first edition (in the main text, with the plainer autograph version offered as an "ossia"). This is considered one of Mozart's more technically demanding piano sonatas, particularly in the finale.
