Edward Elgar's "Salut d'amour" is renowned for its hauntingly beautiful melody. Composed in 1888 as a gift for his future wife, Caroline Alice Roberts, the piece became an immense success. While numerous arrangements exist, the only versions with surviving autograph manuscripts are for violin and piano (HN 1188), piano solo (HN 1190), and cello and piano. Until now, the cello part has only been available in an arrangement made by the original publisher, presumably with Elgar's approval. This new edition presents, for the first time, the version directly from Elgar's autograph manuscript, which has inexplicably never been published before. Additionally, we are publishing the reliable musical text from the first edition.
