Description
Ravel himself downplayed the significance of the title "Pavane for a Dead Princess" for his 1899 piano piece, stating he chose it mainly for the appealing alliteration. However, he acknowledged the music evokes "a pavane that a little princess once might have danced at the Spanish court." Despite Ravel's dismissive attitude, the simple yet effective work gained immense popularity after its 1902 premiere, inspiring numerous arrangements, including one for small orchestra by the composer himself. We are proud to publish this beloved composition in its original form as part of our Ravel collection.
