Prokofiev: Complete Works for Harp (solo)

RM 84.00

Description

In the 1910s, the young Sergei Prokofiev was inspired by a romantic infatuation with the harpist Eleonora Damskaja, leading him to compose three brief pieces for harp, which he dedicated to her. Two of these works later became part of his piano cycles, op. 12 and 22, and are recognized in this format; however, the third piece, a mystical Andante, remained unpublished until after his passing. Through extensive research conducted in Moscow archives, the autograph manuscripts of all three compositions, along with galley proofs, first editions, and subsequent revised editions, were examined for this edition. Consequently, for the first time, all of Prokofiev's harp compositions are presented in a trustworthy Urtext edition, which also includes intriguing previously unknown variants. This new reference edition is complemented by a preface from Prokofiev expert Simon Morrison and useful pedal markings provided by harpist Sarah O’Brien.
