Description
Of all the chamber music genres Mozart composed, he produced the most works for piano and violin duos, including numerous sonatas and variations. He devoted significant time and attention to these sonatas, meticulously exploring the full range of sounds, themes, and combinations. In pairing the two instruments, Mozart created music of pure, timeless beauty imbued with dramatic power, elegance, and emotional depth.
Volume II contains the six sonatas which Mozart had selected for publication in 1781 as Opus II by Artaria in Vienna. They are dedicated to his pupil Josepha Barbara Aurnhammer, a talented pianist.
