Faure: Ballade in F# Major, Op.19 (Piano)

RM 105.00

Description

Fauré's piano compositions hold significant importance within his body of work. He dedicated his "Ballade," created in 1879, to his mentor Camille Saint-Saëns. This piece diverges from the traditional epic structure of the genre, adopting characteristics of sonata form while maintaining a lyrical essence. In 1881, Fauré orchestrated the "Ballade," which subsequently premiered in this new arrangement.

The work is now available in a scholarly-critical Urtext edition, informed by the latest research and thorough source analysis. This publication, derived from the "Œuvres complètes de Gabriel Fauré," features a comprehensive foreword and performance practice notes, presented in French, English, and German. Christophe Grabowski, a pianist and musicology doctor educated in Warsaw and Paris, has edited various significant works, including a volume of the "Œuvres complètes de Gabriel Fauré" and two volumes of the "Édition Complète des Œuvres de Claude Debussy." He also served as the series editor for the new Chopin Complete Edition and co-published the "Annotated Catalogue of Chopin’s First Editions" in 2010 with John Rink.
