Mozart: Piano Concerto No.26 in D major ,K 537 SE

RM 72.00

Description

Though Mozart's second-to-last piano concerto was finished on 24 February 1788, its premiere did not occur until 1789 in Dresden. Another presentation in autumn 1790, during the festivities celebrating Leopold II’s ascension as Emperor, resulted in the concerto acquiring its current well-known nickname.

When compared to the collection of substantial piano concertos from 1784–86, K. 537 initially appears more traditional due to its many quick scale sections and embellishments; however, it is this very adaptable structure that hints at the styles of the early romantic era. In any event, it is currently one of Mozart’s most often performed concertos.
