How does a journey to sunny Spain appeal to you? You can experience it without stepping outside your home through Sharon Aaronson's latest solo, Costa del Sol. This late-intermediate solo is composed in the key of A minor and set in 4/4 time. The syncopated rhythms effectively embody the Spanish style and maintain rhythmic interest throughout the composition. Structured in A-B-A form, the lively A section contrasts beautifully with the slower B section, which also showcases a lyrical melody line. The changes in tempo, accurate dynamics, and rhythmic syncopation contribute to a solo that students will find enjoyable to play.
The Spirit of America, designed for pianists at the late-intermediate to early-advanced level, comprises five patriotic songs that embody faith, hope, and courage. Sharon Aaronson has skillfully arranged each of these American classics to highlight their intrinsic musical qualities while also demonstrating the performer's abilities. The collection includes "Amazing Grace," "America," "America, the Beautiful," "Battle Hymn of the Republic," and "The Star-Spangled Banner." These arrangements will be a valuable addition to any recital or inspirational event. Notably, "America" and "The Star-Spangled Banner" are selections for the Federation Festivals from 2016 to 2020, as well as a selection for the Federation Festivals from 2020 to 2024.
