In 1842, during a visit to London, Mendelssohn and his wife stayed with a family and wrote a series of short, tuneful piano pieces as Christmas gifts for the family's young members. These well-contrasted compositions serve as an excellent introduction to Mendelssohn's piano music.

Ullrich Scheideler has edited one of Mendelssohn's most important and beautiful piano works, comparing it again with the original sources. Henle Publishers is now issuing this revised edition, complete with Scheideler's comprehensive commentary.
