Description
Johann Philipp Kirnberger, one of Bach's most renowned pupils, published a 1777 collection of dances intended to cultivate a student's rhythmic and temporal sensibilities. The collection blends pieces in the traditional French dance styles of passepied, gavotte, gigue, and musette with more contemporary pre-Classical forms, such as the polonaise and cossack.
