The edition is part of the ABRSM syllabus (grade 8)
Henryk Wieniawski (1835–1880), the renowned Polish violinist, composed the majority of his works for his own performances during his international concert tours. This edition features a curated selection of his most exquisite compositions.
Henryk Wieniawski was not only one of the most renowned violin virtuosos of the 19th century, but he also composed brilliant showpieces tailored to his instrument, making significant contributions to the repertoire. In his Scherzo-Tarantella, it is as if Wieniawski could not decide whether to write a restrained classical scherzo or an unrestrained Italian folk dance. By using the dual title, he aptly captured the work's unique character. This edition includes the detailed original fingerings and bowings from the first publication, supplemented in places by editor Ray Iwazumi, a renowned authority on the repertoire.
