Ysaye: 6 Sonatas, Op. 27 (Violin Solo)

Author : Eugene Ysaye

Description

The key works in the repertoire for unaccompanied violin are now available in urtext editions from Henle. This includes Johann Sebastian Bach's sonatas and partitas, Nicolò Paganini's caprices, and Eugène Ysaÿe's op. 27 sonatas. Ysaÿe composed these challenging works with extraordinary technical demands, dedicating each one to a virtuoso violinist of his time and tailoring it to suit their specific capabilities. Thanks to newly discovered source material, the resulting "definitive text" from Henle supersedes the previously available version from the first edition in many respects.

Ysaye: Poeme Elegiaque, Op. 12 & other Works

Author : Eugene Ysaye

Description

Eugène Ysaÿe's famous 6 Sonatas for Solo Violin, op. 27 (HN 776), belong to the canonical violin repertoire. However, the violin and piano works presented in this collection also deserve recognition and a place in the libraries of students and professional violinists. The most renowned of these works, the Poème élégiaque, op. 12, is included, as are two first editions based on newly discovered manuscripts from Ysaÿe's estate. Providing valuable new insights, Ysaÿe specialist Marie Cornaz contributes a preface to the collection. Additionally, editor Ray Iwazumi, an expert on Ysaÿe as both a virtuoso performer and scholar, presents all the pieces in Urtext format for the first time. Iwazumi's experience also benefits the fingerings included in the marked parts.

Ysaye: Sonata for Cello Solo, Op. 28

Author : Eugene Ysaye

Description

Ysaÿe's Cello Sonata, unlike its more famous companion piece for violin solo, has remained relatively obscure. Nevertheless, it deserves special attention, as it was composed concurrently with the Violin Sonatas and shares their exceptional musical craftsmanship. Our new urtext edition, prepared by Christian Bellisario, draws on a previously overlooked autograph manuscript from a private collection, offering intriguing insights not found in the original print. This publication accompanies the release of Ysaÿe's Violin Sonatas (HN 776) and represents a brilliant addition to the repertoire for unaccompanied string instruments.
