Description
Eugène Ysaÿe's famous 6 Sonatas for Solo Violin, op. 27 (HN 776), belong to the canonical violin repertoire. However, the violin and piano works presented in this collection also deserve recognition and a place in the libraries of students and professional violinists. The most renowned of these works, the Poème élégiaque, op. 12, is included, as are two first editions based on newly discovered manuscripts from Ysaÿe's estate. Providing valuable new insights, Ysaÿe specialist Marie Cornaz contributes a preface to the collection. Additionally, editor Ray Iwazumi, an expert on Ysaÿe as both a virtuoso performer and scholar, presents all the pieces in Urtext format for the first time. Iwazumi's experience also benefits the fingerings included in the marked parts.
