Grieg: At the Piano

Author : Edvard Grieg

Description

Edvard Grieg was a master of the Romantic miniature for piano, and his ten volumes of "lyric pieces" essentially created a new genre. These intimate works offer an abundance of wonderful, accessible pieces that are ideal for those returning to the piano. While it was difficult to select from this rich catalogue, we have also included well-known excerpts from Grieg's orchestral suites From Holberg's Time and Peer Gynt, which the composer himself arranged for solo piano. These Urtext editions present the music in its purest form.

Grieg: Complete Lyric Pieces

Author : Edvard Grieg

Description

Edvard Grieg's "Lyric Pieces" were a kind of poetic piano diary. Between 1867 and 1901, he composed 66 short character pieces, published in ten books. Well-known works like "Wedding Day at Troldhaugen," "March of the Dwarfs," and "To the Spring" are among Grieg's most famous. Alongside these virtuosic compositions, the collection also includes numerous simpler dances and melodies suitable for early piano students. Until now, only five individual books from the series were available from Henle (HN 619, 627, 644, 681, 713). This new collected volume includes the complete "Lyric Pieces," with fingerings provided by Norwegian pianist and Grieg specialist Einar Steen-Nøkleberg.
