Description
Anton Reicha (1770–1836) is renowned among music lovers as a friend of Haydn and Beethoven. Wind instrumentalists revere him as the preeminent composer of 24 published wind quintets. However, the fact that Reicha also created inspiring piano works remains relatively obscure, even today. This new edition aims to remedy that oversight, presenting a cross-section of Reicha's diverse compositional output - including a sonata (op. 43), a set of variations (op. 57), and a fantasy (op. 61). Hopefully, it will help elevate recognition of Reicha's virtuosic piano compositions alongside his celebrated wind quintets.
