Description
What if the likely most famous symphony by Sergei Rachmaninoff were adapted into a composition for piano and orchestra? This was the concept behind the 'adaptation' of Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 into his Piano Concerto No. 5. Throughout the entire time, the Russian pianist-composer Alexander Warenberg remained faithful to Rachmaninoff's style. The four movements of the symphony, however, needed to be adjusted to fit the typical three-movement structure of the piano concerto by merging the second and third movements into a single 'Adagio'. Warenberg's arrangement has been carried out numerous times in the meantime.
