Description
Originally, Lalo had planned to pursue a career as a police officer, but his remarkable musical talent soon became apparent, prompting him to instead choose a path as a musician. Cellists worldwide are well-acquainted with his renowned Cello Concerto in D minor, which is just as spirited and captivating as his "Symphonie espagnole." Many esteemed virtuosos, from Julius Klengel to Leonard Rose, have published their own interpretive editions of the concerto. The Henle Urtext edition sets itself apart by eschewing the additions made by other editors, instead offering both an unmarked part and one featuring fingerings and bowings by the renowned cellist Heinrich Schiff. Parallel to our piano reduction, Breitkopf & Härtel are also publishing a full score, pocket score, and orchestral materials.
