Description

Bach's Six Partitas are widely regarded as one of the most renowned and demanding collections of suites in the history of music. Aware of the significance of this cycle, Bach initially published these multi-movement partitas, composed in Leipzig between 1726 and 1730, in separate editions. This effort culminated in their compilation into an anthology that proudly bears the opus number "1," released in 1731. The variety of forms within the partitas is limitless, showcasing a musical texture rich in intricate counterpoint, while also providing performers with the opportunity to engage in virtuosic playing.

G. Henle Publishers offers this monumental work in a revised Urtext edition, which references the original publications and autograph sources, and thoroughly documents the numerous corrections made by Bach's contemporaries. Additionally, ornamented versions are included in the appendix. For those who prefer a more traditional approach, Henle also provides this significant work in an edition devoid of fingerings.
