Description
The three volumes of Liszt's "Années de pèlerinage" are at the core of his piano works. The first volume, "Suisse," captures the composer's impressions from an extended stay in Switzerland in 1835-36. Originally published in 1840-41, these pieces were later substantially reworked by Liszt, who also expanded the collection by two additional numbers, finalizing it in 1855. For the Henle Urtext edition revision, the team was able to consult the engraver's copy of the first edition, which had recently become accessible. This shift in source material, along with other important new findings from Liszt research, are detailed in the preface and commentary. The fingerings were provided by Swiss pianist Francesco Piemontesi.
