Description
The 1959 album Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet revolutionized jazz and American music. Brubeck's innovative approach to meter, harmony, and the incorporation of Turkish rhythms led to his historic appearance on the cover of Time Magazine, marking him as the first jazz artist to achieve this honor. Notably, saxophonist Paul Desmond's piece "Take Five" became the first jazz instrumental to sell a million copies on the Billboard Hot 100. In celebration of the album's 50th anniversary, this folio features vibrant artwork from the original release and includes a ten-page essay by jazz historian Ted Gioia. It showcases all seven tracks from this landmark recording, presented as Brubeck originally performed them, including titles such as Blue Rondo à la Turk, Strange Meadow Lark, and Everybody's Jumpin'.
