Description

The work is based on a reprisal form. The central section is characterized by a suspension of movement and a flowing quality. However, the extreme sections, while maintaining full mobility, weave a long-breathed arabesque, exuding a calmness derived from the uniformity of swaying and an abstract dance. The soundscape of the impromptu is described as "luminous," subject to euphony and rhythmical harmony.

The critical edition, edited by Jan Ekier and Paweł Kamiński, is based on manuscripts and copies approved by Chopin himself, as well as the first editions. Its aim is to present Chopin's work in its authentic form.
