Description

The composer and violin virtuoso Johann Stamitz is renowned for establishing the world-famous Mannheim school in the 18th century. He is also celebrated among clarinettists for composing the first true clarinet concerto. While Stamitz wrote just a single concerto, it has enjoyed enduring popularity since its rediscovery in the 20th century, becoming a staple of the concert repertoire. The work's moderate technical demands make it well-suited for music students as preparation for the more challenging solo parts found in the works of composers like Mozart, Weber, and Spohr.

To facilitate performance by less experienced pianists, a new piano reduction has been prepared. Additionally, renowned clarinetist and editor Nicolai Pfeffer has contributed suggested cadenzas. The result is an ideal Urtext edition for student recitals and music school performances.
