In just eight years, from 1794 to 1802, Beethoven created twenty piano sonatas, including the renowned “Grande Sonate Pathétique” op. 13. This work represents the pinnacle of his Classical style while simultaneously hinting at the forthcoming Heroic Period, characterized by its deeply Romantic elements. Composed in the “tragic” key of C minor, it anticipates the emotional intensity found in later masterpieces such as the Fifth Symphony and the Coriolan Overture.
