The London press celebrated Señor Albéniz's triumphal tour of Britain between 1889 and 1893, declaring that he "may well inscribe upon his escutcheon the words 'Veni, vidi, vici'."

It was during this British tour that Albéniz increasingly turned to subjects from his native Spain, composing works like the popular España (HN 857). Surprisingly, this tribute to the Iberian peninsula even included a tango in the form of a Cuban habanera, revealing Albéniz's embrace of multicultural influences.
