Description
In 1735 Johann Sebastian Bach distributed his French Suggestion BWV 831 beside the celebrated Italian Concerto as the moment portion of his “Clavier-Übung”. The assignment Ouvertüre (Suggestion) can be to some degree deceiving, since this work comprises not fair of an opening development but too of a full-fledged partita with 11 developments:
Ouvertüre, Courante, Gavotte I & II, Passepied I & II, Sarabande, Bourrée I & II, Gigue and Reverberate. In terms of melodic lavishness and cadenced play it is on a standard with its sister-pieces from Portion 1 of the “Clavier Übung“, the 6 Partitas BWV 825-830.
