Description

Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas present an almost limitless array of pianistic and musical creativity, primarily recognized in piano instruction, concert performances, and recordings. Hans von Bülow highlighted the significance of these sonatas by referring to them as the "New Testament of music." The selection of the 32 sonatas with opus numbers is intentional; the three "Electoral" Sonatas composed by Beethoven at the age of thirteen, WoO 47, are excluded from this "New Testament." These sonatas are available in a separate Urtext edition published by Henle (HN 255). Additionally, G. Henle Publishers provides each Beethoven sonata as an individual Urtext edition, available in both print and app formats.
