Lee: 40 Etudes, Op. 31 (Cello Solo)

RM 140.00

Description

Sebastian Lee, a prominent cellist from Hamburg, was not only the esteemed solo cellist at the Paris Opera but also a prolific composer for the cello. His body of work includes a variety of now-overlooked salon pieces and divertissements based on popular opera tunes, alongside numerous pedagogical compositions that continue to be relevant for cellists today. Among these is his notable collection of 40 melodic and progressive etudes, published in Paris in 1843 as opus 31. These etudes effectively fulfill their purpose by systematically addressing different technical elements of cello playing while remaining engagingly melodic, thus enhancing the learning experience. The Urtext edition from G. Henle Publishers preserves the original bowings and fingerings of the composer, offering additional alternatives and contemporary study suggestions from the esteemed cellist and educator Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt.
