Description
Two volumes titled Cello Meets Piano, edited and published by Arpad Pejtsik, were released many years ago by Könemann Music Budapest. The initial edition sold out rapidly, and no subsequent editions were produced. EMB has committed to releasing a new edition named Cello And Piano, maintaining the original content. These two volumes feature a selection spanning 200 years of music. Eight Baroque sonatas are included; in addition to the renowned D minor sonata by Corelli, several pieces are appearing in a modern edition for the first time in 300 years. Alongside cyclical works (Haydn: Sonatina, Mozart: Divertimento, Vivaldi: Concerto) and sets of variations (Beethoven, Tartini), there are numerous shorter pieces, including not only the well-known minuets by Boccherini, Mozart, and Beethoven but also works that are published here for the first time. Virtuoso pieces are represented by Goltermann's Etude-caprice and Jenkinson's Dance of the Sylphids, while lighter compositions include Joplin's Ragtime. The collection comprises 136 pages.
