This cheerful solo beautifully captures the joy of pursuing fireflies during a summer night. Eighth-note sequences symbolize the chase, while staccato notes illustrate the "points of light" shown by the fireflies. The left hand transitions from bass clef to treble, crossing over the right hand to perform some of the staccatos. The tonal center is established on G, with variations between major, minor, and mixolydian in a 4/4 time signature. An optional accompaniment for the teacher enhances the enjoyment.
