Description

Students will appreciate the depiction of a camel caravan traversing the desert in this solo piece. Composed in 4/4 time and set in the key of A minor, the melody incorporates chromatic passing tones that lend it a modal quality. The structure follows an A-B-A format, where the A section presents a right-hand melody supported by a rhythmic ostinato in the left hand. In contrast, the B section features the melody in the left hand, accompanied by harmonic intervals in the right. The extensive use of the keyboard throughout the piece provides an excellent opportunity for students to practice reading ledger lines in both clefs.
