Description

Bach's Six Partitas include what is likely the most well-known and difficult suite grouping in music history. Since Bach first had these multi-movement partitas, which he composed in Leipzig between 1726 and 1730, published in separate editions, he was aware of the gravity of his cycle. As a result, they were published in 1731 in an anthology that proudly bears the opus number "1." Although their variety of forms is limitless and their musical structure is laced with the most creative counterpoint, performers will still be able to enjoy virtuoso playing to the fullest. This masterpiece is published by G. Henle Publishers in a revised Urtext edition that extensively documents the many entries in correction copies from Bach's circle and refers to both the original publications and autograph sources.

Following Bach's example, the 2nd Partita in c minor is offered in both the collective book and a convenient, affordable single version that is perfect for advanced students and independent study.

Footnotes or square brackets within the musical text itself provide easy access to interesting deviations from the various sources.
