Description
More Folk Strings is a compilation of melodies sourced from various regions of the globe, showcasing a range of moods along with rhythmic patterns and harmonies that reflect their respective countries of origin. Due to the adaptable scoring utilized in More Folk Strings, musicians of differing skill levels can collaborate in making music, while less experienced players can perform the solo (melody) sections, which require minimal or no shifting and are composed in accessible keys. Some selections within the collection are simpler than others. The collection is offered in multiple instrumentations for string quartet or string orchestra, for ensembles of violins, violas, or cellos, accommodating two, three, or four players in any combination of these instruments, as well as for solo violin, solo viola, and solo cello. The piano accompaniment can be paired with any of these combinations. In More Folk Strings for String Quartet or String Orchestra, the melody circulates among the ensemble members, ensuring that each participant has the chance to perform the tune. The score and parts are labeled with "melody" and "harmony" to assist players in emphasizing the melody at the right moments. Additionally, teachers' notes include lyrics and contextual information for each folk song, along with suggestions for rehearsal and performance.
