This pupil's book offers a dynamic and thorough introduction to the initial stages of violin playing. It is part of the Abracadabra Strings Beginners series, a new collection of string tutors intended to precede our established Abracadabra books. All titles within the series complement one another, making them perfect for ensemble, group, and whole class instruction. When used independently, they are also excellent for individual lessons. The book includes activities, games, and pieces that teach the essential skills of playing the violin: maintaining good posture (both with and without the instrument), bow grip, finger placement, and pitch awareness, in addition to developing rhythm and reading notation. The accompanying CD supports pitch development with performances of the pieces and backing tracks to encourage students to practice outside of their lessons.
