Description
Bach's Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue BWV 903 and 903a stands out as one of his most intriguing compositions. It appears to have been highly regarded during his lifetime, as evidenced by the numerous copies that exist, some of which feature significantly different interpretations, particularly in the Fantasy section. It seems that Bach undertook several revisions of this work; however, due to the absence of an original manuscript, one of the variant versions of the Fantasy has been included in the Appendix of the Henle Urtext edition.
