Due to the absence of original records regarding its first performance, determining the exact year of its creation remains elusive. However, the notable similarities to BWV 131 Aus der Tiefen rufe ich, Herr, zu Dir, likely composed in 1707, and BWV 71 Gott ist mein König from 1708, both of which were written in Mühlhausen, imply that this funeral cantata may have also been composed in Mühlhausen around 1707.
